Life as a new mother has been very busy indeed, I can’t believe it hasa been about a month since I last put something up on my site…
Theo has started rolling on his tummy and getting very frustrated, not quite sure what he wants to do from there but always seem to have to save him when he falls in a little angry teary heep.
Unfortunately I have not been able to go off to see my family in Europe and have been stuck in the city with this incredible heat… Although being in the house seems a much cooler and easier option most of the time I have been on crazy one hour walks around the French Concesson in the heat of the day, this seems to be the only way I can get Theo to sleep if he’s over tired and that way I get some exercise to try and fight the granny tummy which is hanging (literary) around far longer than I expected.
For other mamas and mamas-to-be there are still a few fun things to do, Bumps and Babes is still going and IMSG baby group will be on again in Hongqiao in August, also Kirsty from Shanghai Toy Club is offering a discount on toy rentals for fellow stranded laowais.
Off to take care of my little one. Please get in touch with any events or info you’d like to share with others.
Melanie is now also selling a gorgeus line of maternity underwear from Switzerland, MUSIS. Finally some good sexy, comfy underwear for bumpy times.
I always thought this would be a fun idea and now that I have my own mini yogi I decided to give it a try. It started because I was really missing my own yoga practice but couldn’t bring myself to leave him or had noone to leave him with. It’s never to early to start enjoying the bliss of yoga and even small babies seem to enjoy the fun of having the body gently stretched out and being held while mummy does her warrior pose.
Baby carrying and breastfeeding tend to affect my posture so during our little yoga practice together I try to be mindful about the way I move and work at mantaining my spine erect and my chest open.
Theo seems to like it although he gets tired quickly at times but generally he’s a fan, especially of Om chanting. I enjoy experimenting with different postures where I can combine postures with baby holding to strenghten my arms (almost 8kg of resistance!) and keep him entertained at the same time.
The key is respect, respecting the baby’s mood and wish, yoga should be a fun way to be in the moment together and let’s not forget that yoga is not just about moving the body.
I am now running a Mama and Baby class on friday mornings from 11.30 to 12.30 at the clark hatch gym in the courtyard aparment (n.55 zhenning road, just by yanan road).
